PGE Narodowy (formerly the National Stadium) is a football stadium in Warsaw, Poland. It is a multi-purpose stadium, one of the most modern stadiums in Europe and the largest stadium in Poland.
Construction of PGE Narodowy began in 2009, on the site of the dilapidated "Stadium of the Decade", which had long been used as the largest marketplace in Europe. PGE Narodowy was opened on 16 December 2011.
In 2012, the stadium hosted several matches as part of the UEFA European Football Championship, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine. Also, PGE Narodowy hosted the final match of the UEFA Europa League of the 2014/2015 season.
In addition to football matches, PGE Narodowy hosts concerts of world stars (Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Depeche Mode, The Rolling Stones), car events (Top Gear Live, Nitro Circus Live) and many other events.
The stadium has a capacity of 64,500 people, it is equipped with a retractable roof, which can easily be transformed into a sports and concert hall. The sports complex, along with the stadium, includes: an Olympic swimming pool with places for 4,000 spectators and an aqua park, a hotel and a congress hall, a spacious parking lot for 8,000 cars directly on the stadium grounds and another 4,000 in the adjacent area.
